Was born in 1979 in Ternopil. In 2001 he graduated from Lviv Theological Academy (now Ukrainian Catholic University). In 2003 he defended master thesis in the Catholic University in Lublin. From 2003 to 2006 he had doctoral studies in the Catholic University in Lublin (The Institute of the Art History). Since September 2006 he has been working at the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv. In recent years he took part in art projects and exhibitions in Ukraine and in Poland. Roman Zilinko creates icons, chapels, crucifixions, shopkas where he treats with the same care and attention both the image – clean open faces, artfully stylized garments and attributes, and additional details – frames, shapes, decorative background. He is the artist for whom the folk icon is not only the subject of study or history, but of living art, joy, spiritual feelings. He has participated in many exhibitions and art projects in Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, as well as in the USA, Austria and France.
